Decolonizing Data in New York State

Please join us for a community conversation to impact the way in which NYS addresses the data needs of Indigenous Peoples.

We will be hosting two listening sessions to obtain critical community feedback regarding self-identification and the health data needs of our Indigenous communities.  We are hoping to gather your thoughts and recommendations concerning the processes for collecting this information.

  • The first session will be held on June 28, 2022, at 2:00 p.m., EST, to obtain critical community input regarding the validity of health data, collection, analysis, self-identification, and data ownership.
  • The second session will be held on July 14, 2022, at 2:00 p.m., EST, to report our findings from the first session and to obtain additional feedback.

All Indigenous peoples in NYS are encouraged to attend this includes tribal leaders, health professionals and our urban Indian populations. The discussions are intended to influence change.

This community conversation is being hosted by Seneca Scientific Solutions+ in partnership with The Office of Minority Health and Health Disparities Prevention.

If you have questions, please email Mr. Dean S. Seneca, MPH, MCURP at [email protected] for more information.

You must register for both sessions to receive the Zoom links.
